HowSociable has been providing a simple way for you to begin measuring your brand’s impact on the social web since 2008. We've measured over 250,000 brands while requiring zero configuration on the part of our users and only a few seconds wait while we analyse a brand's presence to calculate initial scores.
HowSociable's magnitude score provides an indication of the level of activity around a brand during a given week. The range is from 0 to 10. A score of zero means there is zero or near zero activity for the brand. A score of 10 means the brand has practically saturated the social web and will likely be recognized by everyone that uses it.
We calculate the magnitude score by taking a sample of one week's activity across the social web and analyzing it to find out what portion of the activity references a brand. We score the activity on a magnitude scale to ensure most brands can be compared relative to each other. Huge global brands or big news events typically have tens or hundreds of thousands of times the activity of small local businesses or individuals.
We're constantly working to improve the accuracy of the scores and we hope you'll agree that they already provide a good reflection of "how sociable" most brands are.
We look deeper into the score by analyzing a sample of the activity on up to 36 popular websites. This allows you to identify your brand's strengths and weaknesses, set goals and measure improvements. Sites we cover include:
We collect data directly from many of the 36 sites we provide metrics for and also make use of the services of: DataSift, Topsy and Yahoo BOSS.
We can provide access to data for many brands dating back to our launch in May 2008. Historical data is more expensive and less accurate than live data, so if the impact your brand is having on the social web is important to you, we recommend you start following a brand using one of our professional plans well before the start of a campaign. We launched HowSociable Pro in 2011, a premium service that enables you to learn more about your brand's impact on the social web by comparing brands, viewing high impact mentions, measuring all 36 site metrics, loading historical data and more.
